Brief Background

Aaple Sarkar is Maharashtra's single-window portal for Government-to-Citizen (G2C) services, spanning certificates, licences, permits and approvals from departments across the State. Through one login a citizen can apply, pay, track progress and receive a digitally signed output. Current version adds a redesigned user experience, DigiLocker integration for document access and Aadhaar-based authentication, so the entire journey is completed online without paper.

Objective

To give citizens one paperless gateway to government services, delivered within the timelines set under the Right to Public Services framework. The platform aims to reduce the time, cost and number of visits a citizen incurs, and to make the status of every application transparent from submission to delivery.

Benefits

Citizens apply from anywhere at any time, pull supporting documents directly from DigiLocker instead of submitting physical copies, track their application and receive a digitally signed certificate they can reuse. Departments run standardised digital workflows with automatic escalation when a service timeline is at risk, and see reduced counter footfall. The State gains a consistent view of Right to Public Services compliance across departments.

Implementation Methodology

Each service is set up as a configurable workflow with its defined form, fee, approval hierarchy and statutory timeline, and is integrated with Aadhaar authentication, DigiLocker document access and online payment. The 2.0 upgrade re-engineered the interface for a simpler, responsive experience and strengthened the backend integrations that connect to departmental systems. Services are onboarded department by department against these common standards.
