Brief Background
The Haryana State Information Commission is an autonomous statutory body established under the Right to Information (RTI) Act 2005. It was officially constituted on March 2 2006 through a notification in the official gazette of the Government of Haryana. The Commission s primary role is to ensure transparency and accountability in the functioning of public authorities by facilitating the right to information to the citizens of Haryana.
Objective
Adjudicating Appeals: Handling second appeals filed by individuals dissatisfied with the responses received from Public Information Officers (PIOs) under the RTI Act.Addressing Complaints: Investigating complaints regarding refusal or inability to file RTI applications.
Annual Reporting: Collecting and reviewing annual reports from various state departments concerning RTI applications and their disposal.
Public Awareness: Conducting awareness programs to educate citizens about their rights under the RTI Act and promoting its effective implementation.
