Brief Background
The Department of Water Resources (formerly known as the Department of Irrigation) is responsible for the planning development and management of water resources in Goa. Post the liberation of Goa in 1961 the department has been instrumental in enhancing irrigation facilities constructing dams and implementing water conservation projects to support agriculture and ensure sustainable water supply.
Objective
The primary objectives of the Department include:Irrigation Development: Implementing projects to increase the irrigated area and improve agricultural productivity.
Water Conservation: Promoting efficient water use and conservation practices among stakeholders.
