the Goa Legislative Assembly serves as a comprehensive digital platform providing information on legislative proceedings, members, documents, and citizen engagement tools. Established on January 9, 1964, following Goa's liberation from Portuguese rule in 1961, the Goa Legislative Assembly is a unicameral legislature comprising 40 elected members. Initially convened in the Secretariat building (Adil Shah's Palace), the Assembly now meets at the Goa State Legislative Assembly Complex in Porvorim, inaugurated on March 5, 2000 . The Assembly plays a pivotal role in shaping the state's legislative framework, overseeing the budget, and ensuring the implementation of laws and policies that drive Goa's development.

Project Details

Brief Background

The Goa State assembly was functioning in age old secretariat building i.e. Adilshah palace along with Civil Secretariat which was showing the signs of aging and was inadequate to accommodate the committee meetings.

Objective

The Goa Legislative Assembly aims to:
Legislate: Enact laws pertinent to the state s governance and welfare.
Budget Oversight: Approve and monitor the state s budget ensuring fiscal responsibility.
Representation: Serve as a forum where elected members represent the interests and concerns of their constituents.
Accountability: Hold the executive accountable through questions debates and committees.
Transparency: Provide citizens with access to legislative proceedings and documents.

Implementation Methodology

The assembly building is not merely the house of power and symbolic place where peoples representatives discuss and decide the well being of the state, but it is also the house of people. Considering these factors and to reinforce the relationship of population with its representative the concept of new assembly complex was conceived.
