The Collectorate of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (D&NH & D&D UT) is the principal administrative office responsible for governance, public service delivery, and implementation of central and UT-level schemes across the union territory. The UT was formed by the merger of the two separate UTs?Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu?in January 2020 to streamline administration and improve governance efficiency.

Brief Background
Pre-2020: Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu were two separate Union Territories under the administrative control of the Government of India. Merger in 2020: On 26th January 2020 the Parliament of India passed the Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (Merger of Union Territories) Act 2019 combining the two UTs into one for better administration and reduced redundancy. Collectorate Role: Post-merger each of the districts?Dadra and Nagar Haveli (Silvassa) Daman and Diu?has a District Collector who also functions as the District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner reporting to the UT Administrator.
Objective

To act as a link between the central government and local citizens in implementing centrally sponsored schemes.
