The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh is the constitutional head of the state, appointed by the President of India. The Governor serves as the representative of the Union Government and acts as a vital link between the Centre and the State. Brief Background
Arunachal Pradesh became a full-fledged state of India on 20th February 1987. Prior to statehood it was a Union Territory and the Lieutenant Governor functioned as the head. After gaining statehood the office of the Governor was established. The Raj Bhavan in Itanagar serves as the official residence of the Governor. The first Governor of Arunachal Pradesh post-statehood was Bhishma Narain Singh.
