MeitY Unveils India AI Governance Guidelines under IndiaAI Mission to Ensure Safe, Inclusive, and Responsible Adoption of Artificial Intelligence across Sectors
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), under the IndiaAI Mission, today unveiled the India AI Governance Guidelines, a comprehensive framework to ensure safe, inclusive, and responsible AI adoption across sectors. The guidelines were formally unveiled by Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, in the presence of Shri S. Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY; Shri Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary, MeitY, CEO IndiaAI Mission, DG NIC; Ms. Kavita Bhatia, Scientist ‘G’ & GC, MeitY & COO IndiaAI Mission and Prof. B. Ravindran, IIT Madras. Government of India approves first batch of 7 projects with investment of over ₹5500 crores under Electronics Manufacturing Component Scheme
Union Electronics and IT Minister Sh. Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the approval of first trench of 7 projects under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS). Now Multi-Layer Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) , HDI PCBs, Camera Modules, Copper Clad Laminates, and Polypropylene Films will be Made in India. The move marks a major step in India’s journey from making finished products to manufacturing modules, components, materials & machineries used to manufacture them.
Government notifies amendments to Rule 3(1)(d) of the IT Rules, 2021 to enhance transparency, accountability and safeguards
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has notified the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Amendment Rules, 2025 to amend the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 (“IT Rules, 2021”). These amendments strengthen the framework of due diligence obligations of intermediaries under the Information Technology Act, 2000 (“IT Act”). Specifically, the amendments to Rule 3(1)(d) introduce additional safeguards to ensure that removal of unlawful content by intermediaries is carried out in a transparent, proportionate and accountable manner. The amended Rules will come into effect from 15th November, 2025.

Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY said “If India is to become a developed nation, we must ride the wave of technology, and AI is perhaps the most crucial technology driving that transformation. To achieve this, we need inclusive mechanisms that ensure people can access and benefit from AI in meaningful ways. Call for Submission of Abstracts highlighting applications of AI in health systems to prepare Casebook
The IndiaAI Mission, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), has announced a global call for abstracts highlighting impactful and scalable applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in health systems. Shortlisted entries will be invited to contribute a chapter to the Casebook on AI Health Use Cases Across the Global South, which is set to be launched at the India–AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi in February.
UIDAI Invites India’s Creative Minds to Design Aadhaar’s Mascot
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has rolled out a nationwide Mascot Design Contest on the MyGov platform, inviting residents to design an official mascot of UIDAI. The competition, open till 31st October 2025, aims to create a unique and memorable mascot that reflects Aadhaar’s core values of trust, inclusivity, empowerment, and digital innovation. The mascot will serve as the visual ambassador of UIDAI, make its communication more relatable and engaging across all age groups. It will embody Aadhaar’s spirit of service, security, and accessibility, while helping simplify communication about Aadhaar.

This is an official pre-summit event of the India – AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled to take place on February 19 – 20, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Jointly hosted by the Department of IT, Government of Uttarakhand, the IndiaAI Mission, MeitY, the summit was inaugurated by Shri Jitin Prasada, Hon’ble Minister of State (MoS), MeitY, and was held in presence of Shri Nitesh Kumar Jha, Secretary, Information Technology, Government of Uttarakhand; Shri Mohammed Y.
