Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Bhupendrabhai Rajnikant Patel inaugurated the Pre-Summit Conference on AI for Good Governance: Empowering India Digital Future, jointly hosted by the IndiaAI Mission under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India in collaboration with the Government of Gujarat and Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar, at Mahatma Mandir. The conference is a key pre-event leading up to the India–AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled to be held from 15-20 February 2026 in New Delhi.

Strengthening India’s commitment to scaling responsible, inclusive, and innovation-led AI ecosystems across states, the IndiaAI Mission under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, in collaboration with the Government of Gujarat and Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar is convening a Regional Pre-Summit Event on 11 December 2025 at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar.

Digital India is an umbrella programme covering multiple projects implemented across Central Ministries/Departments and State/UT Governments. Its execution requires close coordination among these agencies, as many initiatives are jointly developed and implemented.

The policies of the Government are aimed at ensuring an Open, Safe and Trusted and Accountable Internet for its users, including children.

With the expansion of the Internet and more users accessing it, the risk of exposure to inappropriate content and the harmful effects of these activities have also increased.

The vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister is to achieve self-reliance in supercomputing. This is ensured by giving access to state-of-the-art supercomputing facilities to researchers (academia and startups) as well as ensuring the manufacturing of critical sub-components in India.

Towards advancing India’s vision for safe, trusted, and inclusive AI, the Centre for Responsible AI (CeRAI) at IIT Madras in collaboration with the IndiaAI Mission under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, is hosting a Pre-Summit Event convening on 11 December in Chennai, ahead of the India–AI Impact Summit 2026. The programme will open with a formal inauguration on the evening of 10 December, followed by a full-day Pre-Summit Event and a hybrid, closed-door Working Group meeting on 11 December.

Government of India recognizes email as an important mode of official communication. Government is upgrading the legacy e-mail system to a cloud based, secure and scalable system. This upgrade is being carried out through M/s Zoho Corporation Ltd., a reputed Indian software service provider, selected through an open competitive process.

The National e-Governance Division (NeGD) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), has announced a major enhancement to citizen services through the enablement of the Passport Verification Record (PVR) on the DigiLocker platform. DigiLocker is a secure, cloud-based platform under the Digital India programme that enables issuance, storage, sharing, and verification of digital documents and certificates.

The Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), and the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025 have been notified on 13 November 2025, They provide a timelines for implementation of relevant provisions. In terms of the provision of the Rules, Digital Data Protection Board has been notified.

In line with Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision, the Government is democratising the development and usage of technology. The focus is using Artificial Intelligence (AI) for solving real-world problems and ultimately improving lives across various sectors.

Aadhaar number holders executed 231Cr authentication transactions in November 2025, clocking a growth of almost 8.5% as against the same period last year. It is indicative of the growing usage of Aadhaar, as well as the growth of digital economy in the country. The November 2025 authentication transactions are highest so far when compared with any of the previous months this fiscal year. In October, the numbers were 219.51 Cr. The growing usage shows, how Aadhaar has been playing the role of a facilitator for effective welfare delivery, and voluntarily availing services offered by service providers.
