The HIMASHIELD 2024 Grand Challenge, organized by (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing) C-DAC Thiruvananthapuram under Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology research initiatives, successfully concluded on National Science Day in Thiruvananthapuram. Aimed at fostering innovation in Glacier Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) mitigation, the challenge provided a platform for young researchers and innovators to develop indigenous, sustainable solutions to tackle this critical environmental challenge.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has marked a significant step in India’s digital governance with the launch of the Digital Brand Identity Manual and the inaugural Chief Information Officer Conference 2025.

CDAC-Noida a research organization of MeitY signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Creative Play Lab, a  department of the LEGO Group under the project ‘Development of Electronics and IT-based Control and Automation Solutions for Consumer Electronic Goods (Toy Industry)’.

Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance (Social Welfare, Innovation, Knowledge) Amendment Rules, 2025 under the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016 have been notified by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) today. This amendment has been done to help in improving transparency and inclusivity in the decision-making process.

Honourable Minister of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the availability of 18,000+ GPUs through the empanelment of AI cloud service providers and MeitY’s call for proposals for the development of indigenous foundational models and creation of an AI Safety Institute and AI applications funded under the IndiaAI Innovation Challenge. The announcements were made in the presence of Hon’ble Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, Shri Jitin Prasada; Shri Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary, MeitY, and CEO, IndiaAI; Shri Nand Kumarum, P&CEO, NeGD, MD & CEO, DIC & CEO, MyGov and Smt. Kavita Bhatia, COO, IndiaAI.

Amidst this diversity, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is leveraging BHASHINI, a revolutionary initiative under the Digital India program, to ensure seamless communication and accessibility for all participants.

Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) , Shri S Krishnan laid the foundation stone for the Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Test Facility at Navi Mumbai today. The laboratory to be established by the Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering and Research (SAMEER), a research institution under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, is designed to cater to the growing demand.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology organised a consultation meeting with government officials and industry on the Draft Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Rules, 2025, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to India’s data protection framework ahead of the public feedback deadline of February 18, 2025. Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar assumed charge as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on Wednesday. He is an officer of the 1995 batch IAS from the Uttar Pradesh cadre.

The National e-Governance Division (NeGD) and the Indian Ports Association (IPA) have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in New Delhi on December 24, 2024. The agreement was formalised by Shri Nand Kumarum, IAS, President and CEO of NeGD, and Shri Vikas Narwal, IAS, Managing Director of IPA, in the presence of Dr. Arvind Bhisikar, Executive Director (IT) of IPA, and Shri Rajnish Kumar, Chief Operating Officer of NeGD, along with their respective teams.

A Conference of State IT Secretaries, senior officials of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and States/UTs was held on December 17, 2024 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The meeting was organised under the chairmanship of Secretary, MeitY, Shri S. Krishnan with the objective to further collaborate and support the digital endeavours of States/UTs to usher in the next generation digital
transformation including improving quality of government services, bridging the digital divide, automation of backend processes, undertaking data protection and cyber security measures.
