The Digital India BHASHINI Division (DIBD), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), successfully organised BHASHINI Samudaye: Strengthening India’s Language AI Ecosystem at Nalanda Hall, Dr Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi, in collaboration with Wadhwani AI. The workshop represented a significant step in consolidating India’s language AI ecosystem through collaborative engagement, participatory governance, and shared ownership of public digital infrastructure.

The Digital India BHASHINI Division (DIBD), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) will organise BHASHINI Samudaye: Strengthening India’s Language AI Ecosystem on 13 January 2026 at Nalanda Hall, Dr Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi.

IndiaAI and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), in collaboration with the Government of Uttar Pradesh, are set to host the Uttar Pradesh Regional AI Impact Conference 2026 in Lucknow on 12–13 January 2026. Showcasing cutting-edge deployments of artificial intelligence in governance and public service delivery, and to align state-level initiatives with the ambitions of the IndiaAI Mission.

Lucknow emerged as a key national and global convening point for discussions on responsible and inclusive artificial intelligence on Monday, as policymakers, international organisations, industry leaders, and researchers gathered for the Uttar Pradesh Regional AI Impact Conference 2026 alongside the Fourth Meeting of the AI for Economic Growth and Social Good Working Group. The engagements were organised by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in collaboration with IndiaAI, with support from the Government of Uttar Pradesh, under the broader framework of the India AI Impact Summit.

Under the Independent Business Division – IndiaAI Mission of the Digital India Corporation, functioning under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, a significant step has been taken towards strengthening the Artificial Intelligence (AI) ecosystem in the country. In this regard, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been exchanged between Digital India Corporation (IndiaAI) and Uttar Pradesh Development Systems Corporation Limited (UPDESCO), Lucknow.

As a key preparatory milestone leading up to the India AI Impact Summit 2026, the Conclave on AI for Science – Working Group Meeting was convened today at the IIT Bombay Research Park. Hosted by IndiaAI, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra and IIT Bombay, the one-day hybrid conclave brought together leading scientists, policymakers, technologists, and innovators to explore how artificial intelligence can accelerate scientific discovery and deliver societal solutions.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) today launched the Aadhaar mascot, a new resident-facing communication companion to simplify public understanding of Aadhaar services. The Aadhaar mascot named Udai (उदय) will be helpful in making Aadhaar-related information more relatable, and people-friendly. It will simplify communication of Aadhaar services – whether it is about updates, authentication, offline verification, selective sharing of information, new technology adoption, responsible usage and many more.

The 38th episode of Digital India Ask Our Experts, held on January 9, 2026, spotlighted the upcoming India AI Impact Summit 2026, positioning it as a landmark global event that will shape the future of responsible and inclusive Artificial Intelligence.

Commemorating National Youth Day on January 12, 2026, the Government of India reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment by spotlighting the newly launched National AI Literacy Program and its flagship YUVA AI FOR ALL course, bridging Swami Vivekananda’s vision of enlightened youth with the tools for an AI-driven future. The program was launched at the Rajasthan Regional AI Impact Summit held in Jaipur on January 6, 2026, by Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, Chief Minister, Rajasthan; Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Electronics & IT, Railways and Information & Broadcasting; and Shri Jitin Prasada, Minister of State for Electronics & IT and Commerce & Industry. The National AI Literacy Program aligns with the Government’s vision of a Viksit Bharat, the expansion of Digital Public Infrastructure, and India’s commitment to inclusive, responsible, and democratic adoption of AI.

The Digital India BHASHINI Division (DIBD), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), participated in the 10th edition of the TiE Global Summit – Rajasthan Chapter, held at the Jaipur Exhibition & Convention Centre (JECC) on 4-5 January, in collaboration with the Department of Information Technology & Communication, Government of Rajasthan.

Day 2 of the Human Capital Working Group Meeting, organised by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the IndiaAI Mission in collaboration with the Government of Assam and IIT Guwahati, concluded today with focused deliberations on practical implementation pathways for language access, the National Language Translation Mission (NLTM), AI-enabled education, and the BHASHINI platform.
