It is a significant initiative by the Government of India. A flagship initiative of MeitY, is more than just a cool app. It\u2019s part of India\u2019s bigger dream of paperless governance and citizen-first digital empowerment. It\u2019s not just about convenience, it\u2019s about security, transparency, and putting you in control.<\/p>\n

What Exactly is DigiLocker?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Think of DigiLocker as a digital briefcase that can store your official Government-issued documents such as PAN card, Aadhaar, driving licence, school mark sheets, university degrees, and more. These aren\u2019t just scanned copies; they are digitally verified records that carry the same legal weight as the originals under the Information Technology Act, 2000<\/a><\/p>\n

When a bank, travel website, university, or any other third-party service needs a document from your DigiLocker, they can\u2019t just obtain it. They must follow a strict, global-standard protocol called OAuth 2.0 Authorization Code Grant flow (DigiLocker Partner API Specification<\/a>). Simply put, if you say \u201cno\u201d at any point, game over for that request. The process stops instantly.<\/p>\n
