The Session on “Understanding Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023” was conducted at the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) on 27th February 2025. The session was chaired by Shri Inder Pal Singh Sethi, Director General, NIC and headed by Shri Prashant Kumar Mittal, Scientist-G, NIC. The speakers for the session were Priyanshu Yadav and Shagun Dubey from NeGD, MeitY.
The session aimed to provide general awareness regarding the Act and its implications on NIC and individuals in their personal capacity. It was highly interactive, fostering a two-way communication where attendees actively engaged with the speakers through queries and discussions. The speakers addressed numerous doubts, clarified ambiguities, and explained key aspects of the Act in detail. The discussions centered around how the Act impacts NIC’s operations and obligations as well as individual responsibilities under the law. Several questions were raised regarding data fiduciary obligations, exemptions for government entities, and compliance requirements. The clarity provided during the seminar significantly contributed to the attendees’ understanding of the Act.
